Frequently asked questions

How long will it take to make a bespoke piece?

I aim to complete most bespoke orders in two weeks, though this depends on the complexity of the design.

Different colour ways or small embellishments/alterations can usually be done within a week or so. I always have plenty of stock which isn't listed here, since I supply work to galleries and run my own studio shop. So if you're after a red bird with blue polka dots; I might already have one waiting for you in my stock drawer!

I get rather busy in the run up to Christmas, so things may take a little longer, depending on my deadlines.

I am always contactable via etsy messages, so if you have any queries send me a message and I will suggest various options ASAP.

How durable are the sculptures?

They are much sturdier than they look!
They are made with 280-300gsm cardstock, double thickness at their seams. I take great care in their design to ensure their structure is as sturdy as possible. Once built they are rather difficult to squash! The paper I use is acid free, age resistant and recycled.
I print my sculptures with colourfast inks and they are given a coat of UV resistant varnish, to ensure my designs retain their vibrant colours and are easy to dust.

Every effort has been made to ensure their design is as sturdy and durable as possible. They are reasonably robust and can happily survive being carefully handled or accidentally dropped on the floor. It is best that they are kept out of the hands/paws of children and pets.

Care instructions

I would recommend a microfibre duster, to tickle them with every now and then. A feather duster or a dustcloth would also be fine. They are satin varnished, so they will take being wiped with a damp (though preferably not wet!) cloth. These sculptures are not suitable as bathroom wall decorations, due to the humidity.
